This 1928 Chev Roadster belonged to my Dad,
Derek Prebble (RIP 1930-2023) who was the fifth owner since new. Apparently the original owner bought the car to go on their honeymoon. Just imagine newly weds driving around the South Island in 1928!

The car is fully restored and I have since had it confirmed that this model is actually a 1927 Chev Sport Roadster: “The 1928 model has a different radiator surround and 4 wheel brakes. The bonnet is also longer, but the brakes are a dead giveaway as front brakes were only introduced in 1928”

From the records included with the car, the main restoration work was done 2003-2004.
The owner T D Anderson commissioned Martin Rooney of Oxford and work took over two years.
There are receipts for work on the body, hood, chassis, new windows, chrome & paint, along with one for 157 hours of labour at $12/hour.

The colour of the paint was matched back to the original, from someone who knew the car & matched the shades.

The engine was reconditioned in December 2010, at 18,450 miles, and is in great running order now in 2024.

It seems there were some mis-readings in 2012 and 2019, when it was tested for a Warrant Of Fitness. From carjam:
